Meet The Host

Steven Rinella

Steven Rinella is an outdoorsman, author, and the founder of MeatEater. Rinella is the host of the television show and podcast MeatEater as well as The History Channel’s Hunting History with Steven Rinella. The author of more than a dozen books, many of them New York Times bestsellers, Rinella was born in Twin Lake, Michigan, and now lives in Montana with his wife and three kids.

Janis Putelis

Janis Putelis is the Director and Executive Producer of the Netflix Original series MeatEater and co-host of The MeatEater Podcast. Before joining MeatEater in 2012, Putelis spent over a decade guiding hunting and fishing trips in Colorado, Arizona, and Mexico and three years in a professional kitchen.

Brett Reaves

Brent's a lifelong outdoorsman who's family roots go back over 150 years in the river bottoms of rural Arkansas. Brent is a career law enforcement officer, former waterfowl guide for over 25 years around Stuttgart, Arkansas, and the proud parent to three children, and grandparent to three grandchildren.

Chris Dorsey

Chris Dorsey has been called the 'brand-father' of outdoor television having helped create and launch almost 60 series in the outdoor genre and an equal amount of series in mainstream television, including for such networks as ABC, Discovery Channel, History Channel, HGTV, Travel, DIY, ESPN, WGN America, National Geographic, Nat Geo Wild, Destination America, Oxygen, and all the outdoor networks. Dorsey formerly served as editor in chief of Sports Afield and Ducks Unlimited magazines, is the author of 12 books, and is a regular contributor to Forbes. His work also has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, National Geographic, Newsweek, and The Robb Report. He's among the world's most widely traveled hunters having taken the 29 big game species of North America, the deadly seven species of Africa, the spiral horns of Africa and the wild turkey world slam.  He’s a member of the Outdoor Legends Hall of Fame and is a recipient of the Ray Scott Trailblazer Award as well as the Curt Gowdy Memorial Award.  Dorsey has also served in board and advisory positions of numerous conservation and sporting advocacy organizations.

Clay Newcomb

Clay Newcomb is an American outdoorsman, storyteller, and host of the Bear Grease Podcast. A 5th-generation Arkansan, Newcomb is an avid hunter, conservationist, and writer whose work explores the cultural and historical roots of hunting, rural life, and the American outdoors. He is passionate about conservation and hunting as a way to provide organic, ethically harvested game for his family. Before joining Meateater, he published Bear Hunting Magazine and produced video documentaries on bowhunting and wildlife conservation.

Tony Peterson

MeatEater Contributor Tony Peterson has penned hundreds of hunting articles, several books, and developed multiple podcasts. Peterson’s whitetail-related contributions stem from real-world experience and a passion for hunting new ground each season. He's considered one of the top whitetail hunters in the country and is a staunch advocate for public lands.
